When I was teen, I saw a Chinese movie called comedy film from Hong Kong named Mr. Mumble, base off Japanese Manga City Hunter. In the movie, there was a henchwoman named Lau Tang. (Played by 1996 Miss Chinese International runner up Amy Chung Wai Yi) Lau Tang was first introduced in a bar scene where she convinces the hero to work as bodyguard for her boss' daughter. Lau Tang wearing tight brown outfit was able to seduce the hero into following her back to her boss residence. Lau Tang later on in the movie decided she is going to take the job of bodyguard for her boss' daughter so she kidnapped the daughter on a bright day while wearing white cowl neck tee shirt, white bridal gloves and colorful earing. Lau Tang almost made it clear but was stopped by the hero and his rival. Lau Tang was cornered in a back alley after a car chase by a rival assasin. Even though she was cornered, she was confident she was confident as she confronts her rival with a sassy attitude. In the shootout that follows, she ducts for cover hoping her bodyguards can do the job but they were picked off. When Lau Tang sees an opening, she duct out of cover and points her gun at the rival hoping to get a shot off but bad news for her, the rival was a bit quicker as he blasted her with his gun. The young woman closes her eyes as the bullet landed into her heart, she jerks backward hitting her back against the car door before slipping down with a groan. The way she reacted as well as her pretty voice was what got me into fascination with henchwoman biting the dust. I had thought to myself, what is it like to be a confident and sassy henchwoman meeting an untimely demise.
Later on, I would do some digging into the topic of henchwoman. Having watch quite a bit of action movies from Asian film companies. it seems like a henchwoman in those movies bites the dust just as easy as their male counterpart. I guess Asian film makers are more open to the idea of having female characters specially if they are goons or boss die on screen. The more into watching movies, the more I got into the behind the scene stuff. While I was doing research on stunt performers since that often times a henchwoman in movies is played by a stunt performer, I realized that at times, a male stunt performer would be brought in to crossdress as a henchwoman to take a dangerous bump in the place of the female actress or performer. Because of this, it got me into crossdressing as various henchwoman meeting her demise.
Years later, I would have my first crossdress cosplay. It was nothing fancy, short red wig, soft padding for the chest and a short sleeve tee shirt. After I had put in all the stuff, I was thinking to myself, wow, I am actually cosplaying as a henchwoman. I imagine myself in the same scenario as Lau Tang and acted out the scene.
After a few years, I finally would get a chance to act out the scene. For the cosplay I got a plain clean cowl tee shirt, short wig, silk gloves and stuffing for the boob. After I got into the costume, my first thought was, so this is how it feels to be the a henchwoman with boob, make up and all. imagine myself as the sassy and confident henchwoman entering into shootout. I point the prop gun as if I am challenging a rival. I give a confident look. I imagine what would happen when I get shot. After processing that idea, I let out a soft moan and jerks backward and slips to the ground. I closes my eyes and play dead.
